Create/edit a page

WordPress can create either pages or posts (check out the Glossary of Terms to understand the differences).

First, you need to log in if you haven’t already.

Let’s assume you are creating a new static page. Navigate to the “Manage” tab in the lighter blue area, and select the “Pages” tab:

Click the “Create a New Page” link at either the top or bottom of the page:

Next you’ll see the PAGE panel shown below. Here you can type the title and text for your new page. Be sure to click the “advanced tools” icon to see all the text editing options (see the circled-in-red icon shown below).

Once you’ve finished entering the title and content of your new page, you’ll need to pick the “page parent” so that WP places your new page where you want it in the site navigation. For more information on “parent” and “child” pages, see the Glossary of Terms. In our example shown here, we’ve chosen to put our new page under the “parent” of the WordPress page.

Click “publish” to put your page out on the web. Now take a look at your navigation structure and see that your new page is now showing up as a “child” of the WordPress page. Pretty slick, huh?

Editing an Existing Page

If you’ve been following the WordPress Tutorial list in order, you’re already logged in to your site. For those who aren’t, log in and navigate to the “Manage” tab in the lighter blue area, and select the “Pages” tab:

Click the “edit” link for the page you want to edit.

Be sure to click the “advanced tools” icon to see all the options (see image in Creating a New Page section above). Make the desired changes to the text of your existing page. Click “save” and you’re done!
